The day I decided to be a full time Content Creator
There comes a time when you choose to throw caution to the wind and go all in on unchartered territory. There is a saying that when you do what scares you, the rewards are greater hence more satisfying.
With all the hype about it being the best time to thrive on social media, like go viral on a platform like tiktok that would change your life…im in! I want a piece of this action! Scrolling on tiktok as some of us do, I’ve been having endless videos on my for you page on how I should start creating on social media NOW! Phrases like do not waste time, face your fears, and the list goes on. It’s like the universe is conspiring to let me know that I am late to the game. Well, I have taken the brave decision to be a full time content creator. I have no other job, so all my focus is on this project. For 90 days straight, I am going to eat, drink and breathe content creation.
What skills do I have you might ask? Well joseph anderson a writer on medium says content creation is an art. That’s why there’s no clear path to becoming a content creator and I agree. For the last decade or so I have been writing articles as a side hustle. This is one that’s going to help me document my journey on my Blog and I hope you come along!
Video will be a big part of my content, while I have a few skills creating these, I will have to rely on content advice from other creators and learn along the way through trial and error. Now do you see why this is a bit scary? The thing is, I’m looking forward to this chapter of my life. I get to share what I love to the world in my style. Putting yourself out there is not easy but then again, it helps us grow.
What is content creation?
Content creation is the process of organizing information and ideas that appeal and provide value to a certain group of people. This could be in audio, visual or written form. Since the internet has become such a big part of our lives, ask yourself: Where is the first place you go for answers to your questions involving any topic? may it be a new word to you, your favorite celebrity, symptoms? Most likely answer is a search engine like google, bing or duckduckgo. Are you aware that these search engines answer billions of search queries every day?
Whenever you search online, the links that appear in your search results are content. Whether you know it or not, you consume content on a daily basis. Content has become part of our everyday lives. It keeps us informed, answers our questions, entertains us, makes us smile, guides our decisions, and much more.
What does a content creator do?
According to adope, A content creator is someone who creates entertaining or educational material to be expressed through any medium or channel. (Mediums and channels include platforms like youtube, instagram, tiktok, website, tv, just to name a few.) Content creation especially pertains to digital content, since that’s where the majority of content is consumed (and where the money is, if you’re looking to earn revenue through your efforts). For businesses, content creation can mean crafting newsletters, emails, digital marketing materials, brochures, social media, articles, annual reports, advertorial, editorial, company communications and more.
Examples of content include,
- Videos on making your hair, cooking any topic you can think of
- Those articles that diagnose your symptoms

- E-books
- Graphics
Goals & Objectives
Being an introvert, I have come to spend so much time on social media as a source of learning and entertainment. As do many creators. An example being Gary vee who for the record is one of the people who’ve inspired this project. One of his strongest messages is start now! You will figure it out while on the journey. Gary says everyone has content they can share, including documenting.
One of my primary goals is to inspire. I will be documenting my journey daily for 90 days and share the lessons, achievements and overcoming bumps that I’m sure will be on this road. I know that this is daunting but I am so excited!
Another objective is to be more social and a creative contributor to the community. It’s the sense of being responsible enough to inspire as well as create value.
For over a year I have had this business idea of creating stories from the clever comments sections just cause it’s fun. I Love reading comments and imagining them coming together…like a poem or a funny creative sentence :). Anybody who loves reading comments as much as I do knows that it takes a ton of time. S what if you could get all the juicy viby comments in one place? Just open up a page and smile through all the comments? I believe that is one of the priceless positive entertainments out there. Most importantly, the good feeling of reading a fire comment section puts one in a good mood hence positive vibes!
That being said, this 90 day challenge will focus on documenting the content creation and growth of my Brand, comment storytime, sharing how I’ll be spending my days and the creation process. Im commiting to doing this and ironically, giving up the social life for a while, in order to achieve beast mode focus. Now let me say it here, I am dreading uploading my first video on youtube! Oh my goodness it’s going to be such an achievement!
The plan is to repurpose content for each of the above platforms, make it worthy of inspiration and entertainment. Whichever your favorite platform, hope to see you there… and smile, you’re here at the beginning.
